Finished! / Hexagons om paneeltjes klaar!
After I finished the black and white border I knew I was done! It is the middle part of Brigitte Giblins pattern called 'Anna Brereton quilt' from her book 'Featherng the nest'. I started this just to practise making hexagons around a panel of one fabric piece. The size of my hexies are 3/4 inch (on the sides), the ones in the book are bigger. It is fun to make.
Yesterday I started making the border and mittered the corners. The border fabric is from a costume women used to wear in the early days 9 and some still do today)on Marken, The Netherlands. It is not printed but woven.
I like the back fabric. It has been a sheet. It was unused lying in the closet of my parents in law for 40 years. It is to stiff to quilt through but good for a coverlet like this. I made it like Brigitte without batting and no quilting.
One more time in my allotment.
And finally inside on the round table with yellow flowers from the garden. I would like to make another one maybe from the same book. There are so many beautiful patterns in the boo, it might be difficult to choose.
Have a good weekend,
Een heel fijn weekend,
