The Pride of Rotterdam
"The pride of Rotterdam' is the name of this little quilt. It is also the name of the Ferry on wich we sailed from England, when my husband and me were on holiday this summer. In the ship I saw this kind of pattern on the floor and we tried to remember it as good as possible. Home again I took a piece of paper and together we figured out this pattern. It took a while because the little black square is not drawn on the diagonal.
To make the coloured squares are printed on paper to make 'paper piecing foundations'. The sewing had to be very precise, a real challenge.
My husband turned 50 this summer-holiday so I made this quilt for him.
Als je naar de quilt kijkt zie je steeds andere vormen. Hij was wat saai en lastig om te maken maar zeker de moeite waard!
I am a litlle late finishing it but he was happy with it and we hung it on the wall in his study the same day!
Every time you look at the quilt you see different shapes. It was a bit boring and tricky to make but it was worth it!
